Brunswick Speedway, located on Hwy 46 (12550 Christanna Hwy) four miles south of Lawrenceville, Virginia 23868 was billed as the "Fastest Quarter-Mile Dirt Track In the Entire South" when it opened in April of 1956. Sportsman and Modified cars hailed from miles around. In later years, the track would host thrill shows, motorcycles, figure 8 racing and late model stock cars to the delight of hundreds of avid race fans weekly. For the next thirty years, the track sat quietly on the farm of A.L. Baird, Jr, who as a little boy, spent every hour he could at the track. Having racing 'in his blood', he has been involved with it over the years from building cars, to crew chiefing to more recently owning a NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified team. But Brunswick Speedway, by now grown up in pines, has always been close to his heart. A few years ago, mainly as a stress reliever, he began pushing down trees on the track with his bulldozer. Gradually as the track started taking shape, he envisioned it bustling with activity again. Now, it has re-emerged as a first class, high- banked go kart track attracting karters from several states. Al and his wife Betsy, have always wanted to some day get into a business where people were having a good time. With the help of family and friends, they have achieved their goal. When Al decided to open the track, he wanted to provide a product that would be affordable for newcomers to the sport. Luckily, after talking with others in the karting industry, a new engine was soon developed. It is called the Box Stock Project engine. This affordable engine, along with a set of Maxxis tires that will last all season rather than just one race, make up more than half of the nearly twenty classes now running at Brunswick Speedway. Racers ranging from 5 years old to over 70 years young are competing. One family has three generations competing. The eldest having raced on the original track. Brunswick Speedway's motto is "…Let the Good Times Roll…" taken from a song that was played over the PA system back in the day. Good times continue at the track in 2014 with points races most Saturday nights.

Camp Willow Run is an interdenominational Christian camp located on Lake Gaston in northeastern North Carolina. The camp is built on a unique railroad theme using actual boxcars that have been converted into heated and air-conditioned dormitories. An authentic 1911 steam engine and caboose complete the train. The three-fold purpose of Camp Willow Run is to win youth to Christ, help mature those who are already Christians and demonstrate that you can be a Christian and have fun. Every effort is made to ensure a safe, action-filled experience for each camper. The Christian lifestyle is demonstrated by a carefully selected staff and taught through Bible study, devotions, music, and times of personal interaction. The CWR summer program is available to rising 7th grade through 12th grade students, and the Camp Willow Springs summer program is available to rising 3rd grade through 6th grade students, without regard to race, color, national origin, limited disabilities, or religious preference. "The Worlds Best Bluebird Houses!" Bluebird Conservation and Education The Eastern Bluebird Rescue Group, Inc. is an IRS Code 501(C)(3) non-profit organization. Donations are tax deductible to the full extent of the law. We at the Eastern Bluebird Rescue Group care deeply about bluebirds. We think they are once again in danger. They are losing habitat to logging and development and are threatened by pesticides and herbicides. Bluebirds are unable to make the hollows or cavities required for their nests and they must rely on woodpeckers or natural decay to provide their nesting sites. These sites are becoming increasingly scarce. We feel that the continuing loss of natural nesting sites and other problems faced by bluebirds indicate that this beloved bird will always need man's help to survive. The goal of the Eastern Bluebird Rescue Group is to increase the population of these beautiful song birds in our area. We are working toward that goal by building bluebird houses and through educational presentations. Our volunteers have built over 265,000 bluebird houses and hundreds of wildlife presentations have been conducted for a wide variety of groups.

Also known as Brinkleyville Speedway and The Red Clay Bullring! The Speedway formerly known as Clary's Speedway or Clary's Motor Speedway located in Brinkleyville, North Carolina has been purchased from recent owners and will open under new management in April 2019 as Halifax County Motor Speedway "The Red Clay Bullring". Halifax County Motor Speedway is a local 3/10 mile dirt track surfaced with red clay. Halifax County Motor Speedway will host 7 different classes throughout the 2019 race season featuring Late Model, Limited Sportsman, Open Wheel Modified, Pure Stock V8, Super Stock 4 Cylinder, Pure Stock 4 Cylinder, and U-Car. Halifax County Motor Speedway will also host the I-95 Late Model Challenge Series 3 times a year. The new owners promoted the track in 2017 in which they ran 15 races that year with a lot of big events such as 3 I-95 Late Model Challenge Series events, the "Monk Memorial" July 4th race, a Pure Stock V8 Special paying $2200.00 to win, Side By Side ATV racing, along with extra purse money events for the Limited Sportsman, U-Car, Super Stock 4, and Pure Stock 4 divisions. The Speedway also held an Awards Banquet in December 2017. Rules for each class will be posted at the end of November for the 2019 race season.

Mill Hill Brewery is a little place where good vibes flow as freely as our artisan small batch beers. Once a mill village commissary called Fisher's Grocery, the building that houses our taproom dates back pre 1940. In the early 1960s, Mr. and Mrs. Fisher opened it up as an American hot dog and burger joint that became known as Newt's Grill . The old timers tell stories of when Mr. Fisher would sling hot dogs while smoking a cigarette... how times have changed, but the good spirit of the time is still alive and well at Mill Hill today! In 2020, the old Newt's building was completely gutted and the interior revamped to meld a soft yet rigid-industrial classic feel. The addition of the porch added some extra sitting room, perfect for having a beer with friends. The original signage stating "We (do not) have hamburgers and hot dogs" pays homage to and preserves what Mill Hill was and what it has become. Always a hang out, but now also a watering hole and a place to create memories as well as tasty beer. No strangers exist here. What a great place to be! And great beer, a true delight!
